WHO WE ARE
COMMUNAUTE ESTUDIANTINE BURUNDAISE DE NAKIVALE (CEBUNA)
CEBUNA is a non-profit and non- political organization registered in isingiro district as a Community Based Organisation (CBO). It was founded in January 2016 within Nakivale Refugee Settlement and has been in operation to date. We are involved in empowering the youth through trainings, securing scholarships, childcare, culture tolerance within communities, and community sensitization. Our area of intervention are: Education, Youth and Adolescent and Livelihood.

OUR PROMISE
FEATURED PROGRAMS
Entrepreneurship Program
CEBUNA delivers a practical experience for young refugees to develop entrepreneurial skills, and test ideas. This enables young refugees to open, grow businesses, and consequently become self-reliant.
Child Care Program
CEBUNA believes that children are precious ,important, regardless of their back ground or social status, they are loved and they deserve to understand their value.
English Learning Program (ELP)
CEBUNA English program has 2 different levels with specific curriculums aiming to teach and improve the English language skills for young refugee in order to enable them to adapt, integrate in Ugandan education system and working system. This program gives emphasis on people who fled from French speaking countries with a good working capacity and those who want to learn and improve their English language skills. The main objectives is to teach and enable refugees specially the young people who fled from French speaking countries to acquire specific knowledge and skills in English which is the common and official language in Uganda.
Help the youth who left their countries before or after completion of their studies to be on the job market and integrate in Ugandan education system.
EVENTS
COVID RESPONSE
In partnership with International Refugee Rights Initiatives IRRI, CEBUNA conducted Safety and wellness or Salama champions project. This project was created in the objective of equipping refugees with knowledge and skills on how to fight against the spread of SARS – CoV-2 virus, and create localized solutions towards the pandemic (COVID-19). The project enabled 20 women and 20 young refugees to be employed for a period of one month. Through this project 500 care packages composed by sanitary pads, face masks and liquid detergent were distributed to PSNs (People with Specific Needs) of Nakivale Refugee Settlement.
COMPUTER LEARNING
Computer learning program gives opportunities to the youth of the settlement to manipulate and get used to some computer programs. Its aim is also to equip young refugees “graduate “and “high school students” with computer skills in order to multiply their luck of being employed and get used to the manipulation of computer tools.
TEAM BUILDING
In the objective of supporting CEBUNA organization’s staff to be more professional in terms of financial management and promote their vision, mission and values, a training was prepared and conducted by MNA & CO organization and supported by Segal Family Foundation on behalf of CEBUNA.
